Cheesy Garlic Chicken Wraps Recipe
Quick & Easy Dinner Wraps.
Quick and easy wraps filled with seasoned chicken, melty cheese, and a delicious punch of garlic. A perfect 30-minute meal.

I started making a version of these years ago when my kids were little. We’d have 'wrap night' and just fill tortillas with whatever was left in the fridge. This cheesy, garlicky version just sort of evolved over time. It's funny how the simplest things become the most requested. It’s nothing fancy, just a warm, delicious meal that feels like home. Now, it's the one recipe everyone asks for when they come over for a casual dinner.
Why These Wraps Feel So Good
- •They come together in about 30 minutes. So simple.
- •That incredible melted cheese pull is everything.
- •The garlic butter makes the whole kitchen smell amazing.
- •Perfect for a quick lunch or a lazy, comforting dinner.
- •They’re easy to customize – add your favorite veggies or sauces!
- •It's a one-pan meal, which means less time cleaning up.
Wow, my family absolutely devoured these. My husband said they were better than takeout! That garlic butter is a game-changer. I’m already planning to make a double batch next week. So easy for a weeknight, which is a lifesaver.
Essential Ingredient Guide
- Chicken Breast: I like to slice the chicken thinly myself. It just cooks faster and gets a nice sear. Thighs would work too, if that's what you prefer.
- Fresh Garlic: Please, use fresh! It makes all the difference. The warmth and aroma from freshly minced garlic is what makes this so special. The jarred kind just isn't the same.
- Flour Tortillas: Use the large, burrito-sized ones. It just makes rolling them so much easier, especially when you're generous with the cheese, which I always am. Oops.
- Shredded Mozzarella: Low-moisture mozzarella gives you that perfect, stringy melt without making the wrap soggy. I sometimes mix it with a little sharp cheddar for extra flavor.

Complete Cooking Process
- Slice your chicken into thin strips.
- Toss it in a bowl with olive oil and all the seasonings until it's nicely coated.
- Cook it in a hot skillet until it’s just cooked through. Then take it out and set it aside so it doesn't overcook.
- Melt the butter in a small bowl.
- Stir in the freshly minced garlic and chopped parsley. Just let those beautiful aromas fill the air for a moment.
- Lay a tortilla flat.
- Layer your cheeses, the cooked chicken, and any extras like spinach.
- Fold the sides in, then roll it up nice and snug. Don't overfill it, or it will be hard to roll.
- Brush the outside of your rolled wrap with that delicious garlic butter.
- Place it seam-side down in a medium-hot skillet.
- Toast each side for a few minutes until it's golden brown and the cheese inside is ooey-gooey. Listen for that gentle sizzle. That's the good part.

A Few Common Questions
→Can I use leftover chicken for this recipe?
Absolutely. This is a perfect way to use up leftover rotisserie or grilled chicken. Just chop it up and warm it through before adding it to the wrap.
→What other cheeses could I use?
You could use Provolone for a great melt, or a Monterey Jack or a Mexican cheese blend. Honestly, whatever you have that melts well will be lovely.
→Can I make these ahead of time?
They are truly best when they're fresh and crispy from the pan. If you must, you can assemble them ahead of time and store them in the fridge, then toast them right before serving.
→How do I keep my wrap from falling apart?
The key is not to overstuff it. Also, warming the tortilla for a few seconds in the microwave makes it more pliable and easier to roll without tearing. Placing it seam-side down first in the pan helps seal it closed.

Ingredients
For the Chicken
- 011 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 021 tablespoon olive oil
- 031 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 041/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 051/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 061/2 teaspoon salt
- 071/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Garlic Butter
- 014 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 023 cloves garlic, minced
- 031 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
For Assembly
- 014 large flour tortillas
- 021 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 031 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 04Optional: 1 cup fresh spinach
Instructions
In a medium bowl, toss the sliced chicken with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cooked through and lightly browned. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. This is your magic garlic butter.
Lay a tortilla flat. Sprinkle a quarter of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese down the center. Top with a quarter of the cooked chicken. If you're using spinach, add a handful now.
Fold in the sides of the tortilla, then roll it up tightly like a burrito.
Wipe out the skillet and reduce the heat to medium. Brush the outside of the wrap with the garlic butter.
Place the wrap seam-side down in the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until the tortilla is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese inside is beautifully melted.
Repeat with the remaining wraps. Serve them warm, maybe with a little sour cream or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes & Tips
- 1If you like a little heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the chicken seasoning.
- 2Baby spinach wilts down nicely, but chopped romaine or iceberg lettuce can be added after cooking for a fresh crunch.
- 3This recipe is very forgiving, so feel free to adjust the seasonings to your personal taste.
Tools You'll Need
- •Warm your tortillas for 10-15 seconds before rolling to make them more flexible.
- •Don't have the pan too hot when toasting, or the outside will burn before the cheese melts.
- •Press the wrap down gently with a spatula as it cooks to help it get a nice, even crust.
- •Feel free to add other fillings like sautéed onions, mushrooms, or bell peppers.
